You should not use the Fashion Band attached to a bow to keep the top knot in place.  The Fashion Bands on the bows are for holding the bow on and nothing more.  The hair should be “prepared” with another Fashion Band, or two, before attaching a bow.

First, comb the hair and place a Fashion Band at the base, like you would do for a pony tail on your daughter. Then “bend” the hair over and slip on a second Fashion Band toward the bottom of the hair loop and “twist” it one or more times, so that it is tight. Sometimes, the hair is not long enough to bend over, so just let it stick up.

After the top knot is “set” in place, put the bow in the hair. A bow with a metal clip is easy to attach: snap it on and, to remove it, just snap it off.  However, if the hair is very fine, or the dog is small, you may be using bows with Fashion Bands attached.

For those bows with bands, put the bow in the hair and twist the band only enough times to secure the bow. Do not make it overly tight. If you do, it will be difficult to remove without damaging the bow or the dog’s hair.

Later, after carefully removing the bow, use Elastic Band Snips (or small fine scissors) to clip the Fashion Bands in the hair.  Never clip the Elastic Fashion Bands attached to the bow.
