Spiritual Service Code of Ethics
Our expectations are that God will be exalted, the Holy Spirit invited, and Jesus Christ be seen, in all of our spiritual assistance endeavors. Therefore, our clients and members will be blessed and not harmed, their wounds will be healed, their sins forgiven, and they will be given hope for the future. By doing this, we will fulfill our call to excellence and ethical integrity in Christian Spiritual Service.
1. We believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ and hold ourselves accountable to bring honor to Christ and to promote the welfare and protect the fundamental rights and dignity of all individuals, families, and groups.
2. We hold that the basic rule of Spiritual Assistance is to "do no harm" and will avoid every manner of harm in all client relations, and will neither make any effort to exploit them, nor will we influence them in a way which will depersonalize or deprive them of their inherent value as person.
3. We will maintain client confidentiality to the fullest extent allowed by law, professional ethics, and organizational rules, and shall not disclose confidential communications without first securing consent from the client, but accept the limits of confidentiality when human life is at risk or abused.
4. We will remain accessible to all persons, avoiding alliances and taking sides unjustly, and will not share confidences by one group or family member to the others without permission, unless maintaining the secret will likely lead to the serious harm of someone.
5. We believe that Spiritual assistance is conducted in the spirit of service and will strive to accommodate participants without regard to their ability to pay or make donations; and neither do we solicit clients, nor do we knowingly offer services to those under the care of another minister, pastor, or mental health professional, except with that provider's knowledge, or when someone is in crisis.
